The newly
established Abuja-based Data Governance Institute of Nigeria (DGISI) is likely
to face several challenges in its operation. One major challenge would be the
lack of infrastructure, including inadequate buildings, office equipment, and
personnel to man the facilities. Another challenge could be the resistance from
civil servants who may be skeptical of the new agency's ability to effectively
manage and control data. Additionally, the DGISI will also face difficulties in
developing and implementing effective data management policies and standards
for a country with a large and diverse population.
