In an exclusive interview with Geo, Foreign Office Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch has made it clear in clear and unambiguous terms that the US sanctions will not affect Pakistan’s defense and defense decisions. Many sanctions were imposed in the past as well, but we focused on Pakistan’s security. Islamabad’s response to the sanctions is in line with the principled position that Pakistan’s strategic capability is a necessity for its regional sovereignty and also a means of maintaining peace and order in South Asia. The country’s security will be decided by the Pakistani nation. The sanctions on our missile program are unnecessary, unjust and based on discriminatory practices.
Recently, the US, while announcing sanctions on four Pakistani institutions, had also made the ridiculous allegation that Pakistan is developing missiles that can target targets outside South Asia, including the US. Any reasonable analyst would reject this claim. Pakistan is in no position to have any conflict with the US in any conflict in the world, and how would it want that? However, this strange statement may be an attempt to appease India behind the scenes. The US sees India as a strong ally against China and India considers Pakistan's nuclear and missile programs as a major obstacle to its dominance in the region. Pakistan's entire national security ideology revolves around the potential Indian threat.
The fact is before the whole world that India started the race for missile systems and nuclear technology and the major powers should take steps against India. In view of the conflicts of 1948, 1965, 1971 and Kargil, this concern of Pakistan is also justified.
