Narendra Modi is now an elected prime minister of India for the third time after getting a shocking defeat in the poll, which will challenge his political skills to make stable policies for a coalition government in the biggest democracy of the world.

India’s President Droupadi Murmu has sworn in Narendra Modi for his third term as Prime Minister on Sunday at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, the president’s palace in New Delhi the event was presided over by thousands of people including the leaders of seven neighboring countries, Bollywood, and industrialists.

‘Humbling moment’: I suppose you want to know about Modi 3. For example, the word 0 look like for India?

Before taking the oath, Modi tweeted about it as “Honored to serve Bharat,” where Bharat is the name India goes by in the Indian subcontinent.

Vuvuzelas blared, and people cheered, this is exactly the politics of festivals; the audience clapped and shouted “Modi, Modi” as the seventy-three-year-old man in a white tunic and blue half jacket was invited to take the oath.

This means that after taking the oath of office, Modi surrounded by ministers from his BJP, and executives from his alliance, promised to defend the Indian constitution.

Modi was followed by senior ministers in the previous government: Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah, Nitin Gadkari, Nirmala Sitaraman, Subramanyam Jaishankar, and Piyush Goyal, and their department are also not declared yet.

Modi, who began his career as a propagandist for the Hindu nationalist Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), the ideological progenitor of his Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), is one of the two prime ministers since India’s independence in 1947 to have independently secured the votes of the people for the third consecutive term.

He obtained the third term after a series of elections that ended on the June 1st with the backing of 14 regional parties in his BJP-led National Democratic Alliance. In the previous two terms he and his party had managed to secure an absolute majority.

Challenges Ahead

However, Zoya Hasan, a political analyst from Jawaharlal Nehru University in New Delhi told AFP news agency that conflicts may ensue in the future due to new coalition alliances by Modi.

“Chandrababu Naidu and Nitish Kumar both are very wise in their politics So in some ways, Modi might be meeting his match here,” she said, indicating that two BJP allies do not have the same nationalist sentiment as BJP.

“They have friends across the aisle. And surely the opposition will be wooing them,” Hasan said.

Modi is also under obligation to stop the financial inequality in India from increasing.

India’s economy expanded at the rate of 8. 2 percent in the last fiscal year, this is one of the highest rates among the most developed countries.

But at home, inadequate employment opportunities, high costs of goods and services, low wages and earnings, and religious polarization compelled the electorate to check him.

“The middle class is the driving force of the country,” Modi said on Friday at a meeting of the alliance. “In the next few days, actions will be taken to raise those middle-class savings, improve the quality of their lives, and to find out what has to be done to our rules to do that.”
