Tribute to Dr. Sadaf Naqvi For Her PhD Degree on My Poetry: Dr. Maqsood Jafri

Dear Dr. Sadaf Naqvi Sahiba. 

I am pleased to know that Ms. Aqsa Arshad successfully presented her case in the interview and succeeded in defending her thesis and she has been awarded the prestigious degree of Ph. D on my poetry and my scholarly work from the University of Faisal Abad, Punjab under your guidance. She really worked hard and burned the midnight oil to achieve her cherished academic goal. The credit goes to you as well for guidance. It is my honor that in my lifetime a literary scholar did her Ph. D on my literary and scholarly work. I must thank you for your dedication to guiding the researchers. 

I am in New York for some time. 

I also congratulate Dr. Aqsa Arshad on earning this prestigious degree. She really worked hard for this meritorious position. May Allah bless her and she succeed in her life. Ameen.

زندہ تھے لوگ پھر بھی کہیں زندگی نہ تھی

سورج نکل چکا تھا، مگر روشنی نہ تھی

لاؤں کہاں سے غالبِ دوراں کو ڈھونڈ کر

کہتے تھے لوگ شعر ، مگر شاعری نہ تھی 

خیرات بانٹتے تھے دکھاوے کے واسطے

بندہ نواز لوگوں میں بھی بندگی نہ تھی

انساں کا خُوں بہاتے ہو مذہب کے نام پر

کیا فطرتِ بشر  میں کہیں آشتی نہ تھی؟ 

واعظ کا وعظ سُن کے مَیں حیران رہ گیا 

اِس شورِ فتنہ ساز میں کچھ آگہی نہ تھی

صحرا نورد لوگ تھے مانندِ برگِ خشک

یہ گردشِ مُدام تھی، آوارگی نہ تھی 

اِتنی سی داستانِ محّبت ہے جعفری

دل پہ لگی جو چوٹ تھی، وہ دل لگی نہ تھی
