The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly has approved the Animal Welfare Bill 2024, under which the punishment of 6 months imprisonment and a fine of Rs. is not allowed to treat animals. Violation of animal rights and concealing anything related to the owner will be punished with a fine of 10 thousand rupees or three months imprisonment. In case of non-standard breeding under Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Breeding Service, livestock department There will be confiscation powers. Registration and licensing of animals has been made mandatory and there will be punishment for violating slaughterhouse rules. In recent days, after nationwide incidents of animal cruelty have surfaced on social networking websites. A strong reaction is being expressed by the civil society. 

The list of such incidents is long, including the amputation of a camel's leg in Sindh, gunpowder is used in hunting fish in some areas. Violence is on record. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly has brought the All India Obsolete Act of 1890 into line with the requirements of the current situation. Prevention of prohibited activities, especially for the purpose of providing entertainment to the people, is essential without discrimination. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government should ensure all necessary measures to implement the said law immediately. Publicity campaign is also an indispensable need of the hour to make them aware of the new laws.
