Regarding the current wave of terrorism in the country, the Ministry of Interior has presented a report in the National Assembly, which shows that 12,801 intelligence-based operations were conducted against terrorists across the country in 10 months, in which 341 terrorists were killed. According to the report, the number of banned organizations has increased to 82, while 2,466 people have been arrested in cases of financing terrorism. As evident from the report of the Ministry of Interior, since the beginning of the war on terrorism, several operations of both active and passive types have been carried out to eliminate this scourge. As a result of military operations carried out between 2015 and 2020, terrorist incidents were largely controlled, but after the establishment of an interim government in Kabul in 2021, terrorist incidents have increased. At least 924 people were martyred in the first ten months of 2024, including civilians and law enforcement personnel. During this period, 1566 terrorist incidents took place while 341 Khawarij were killed in counter-terrorism operations. Islamabad's concern is understandable in the context of infiltration into Pakistan and use of Afghan soil for terrorist activities. However, after the meeting of the Pakistani Charge d'Affaires with the Afghan Defense Minister in Kabul and the meeting of the Afghan Ambassador with Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar in Islamabad, there is hope that the two countries will be able to work together to formulate a plan of action to combat terrorism. It is necessary that both countries establish strong mutual communication in this regard and work together to combat terrorism.
