After
the end of Hasina Wajid's power in Bangladesh and the establishment of a new
interim government, a new era of conflict between Pakistan and Bangladesh has
begun. The distances have once again turned into ties and now the trade between
the two brotherly countries has also started which was forbidden during Hasina
Wajid's rule. Bangladesh has bought 25,000 tons of sugar from Pakistan after
many decades, which will reach Chittagong port from Karachi port next month.
Bangladesh has been importing sugar from India before. Recently, sea trade was
dramatically restored after 54 years. The Pakistani cargo ship was anchored at
the southeastern port of Bangladesh. Pakistan's exports to Bangladesh in fiscal
year 2024 were $660.74 million and imports from Bangladesh were $56.55 million.
The warm enthusiasm and new developments in the trade relations between the two
countries are also the result of the meeting between the Chief Advisor of
Bangladesh, Dr. Muhammad Yunus, and the Prime Minister, Shahbaz Sharif, during
the United Nations meeting, in which the two leaders emphasized the importance of
restoring trade relations.
Defense
production and bilateral investment agreements will also be signed in the
coming days. Pakistan has made deals of 600,000 tons of sugar this year,
including 70,000 tons deals with Central Asian states. Thailand has bought
fifty thousand tons of sugar from the sugar industry. Gulf states, Arab
countries and African countries have also signed purchase agreements. From the
export of sugar, Pakistan will get forty to fifty million dollars in foreign
exchange. Due to the efforts of the country's political and military
leadership, the sugar industry is also successfully exporting the sugar that
was previously exported to Afghanistan and Central Asian states through
Afghanistan. Smugglers used to take and sell.
