Second consecutive defeat to Pakistan in the World Cup, Australia won by 62 runs

In the ICC World Cup 2023, Australia won their second consecutive victory by defeating Pakistan by 62 runs thanks to the excellent batting of David Warner and Mitchell Marsh and the brilliant bowling of Adam Zampa.

In the important match played at the Chinnaswamy Cricket Stadium in the Indian city of Bengaluru, Pakistan captain Babar Azam won the toss and decided to field first, which turned out to be completely wrong.

When Australia started the innings, on the very first ball of the match, Shaheen Shah Afridi appealed for lbw against David Warner but the umpire did not declare lbw, Pakistan decided to take a review which proved to be completely wrong because The ball hit the pad after hitting the bat.

Pakistan had an early chance to take a wicket when Shaheen tried to play a bad shot in the fifth over but Usama Mir, making his World Cup debut, dropped an easy catch.

The Australian openers took full advantage of this opportunity and started to attack the Pakistani bowlers and completed the century in the 13th over which was credited to Mitchell Marsh who completed his half-century in that period.

Warner also made good use of the drop catch and regained his form to complete a half-century and put on a 150-run partnership for the first wicket with Marsh.

After his half-century, David Warner went on the offensive and scored his fourth century against Pakistan, leaving behind Mitchell Marsh.

Mitchell Marsh also did not like to be left behind by his fellow batsman and after completing the century by hitting Mohammad Nawaz for a four on the very next ball, he celebrated the century along with Warner along with his birthday.

The Australian openers charged hard against all the Pakistani bowlers, especially Haris Rauf and Osama Mir, and put up a 259-run partnership for the first wicket.

David Warner got another chance when Abdullah Shafiq failed to take a catch on the boundary off Osama Mir.

Pakistan got their first win when Mitchell Marsh caught Usama off Shaheen at a score of 259. He scored 121 runs off 108 balls with the help of 9 sixes and 10 fours.

On this occasion, Glenn Maxwell was sent in to bat at the upper numbers but Shaheen, with the help of Babar, got him going on the very first ball.

Pakistan got a chance to take the third wicket soon but captain Babar Azam could not catch the Australian batsman Steve Smith while standing in the slip.

After two drop catches, Usama Mir took the responsibility of taking the catch himself and ended the innings by walking the Australian batsman Smith on his own ball.

From the second end, Warner continued his brilliant batting and completed his 150 runs by hitting Osama Mir for a six.

Maynaz became the wicket of Haris Rauf after scoring 163 runs off 124 balls with 9 sixes and 14 fours.

Josh Ingles also could not play a long innings and became Harris's second wicket after scoring 13 runs.

Shaheen Shah Afridi continued his impressive bowling and left Stoins lbw for 21 off 24 balls.

Haris also returned to the match after being beaten early and took the third wicket by dismissing Marins Labushin.

Australia scored 367 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in the allotted overs. On behalf of Pakistan, Shaheen Shah Afridi bowled brilliantly and took 5 wickets while Haris also dismissed three players.

On behalf of Pakistan, openers Imam-ul-Haq and Abdullah Shafiq started the innings confidently while Mitchell Starc bowled four wides in the first over.

David Warner was adjudged Man of the Match for his excellent knock of 163 runs.
