Take A
Deep Look At America *An
Analysis By Muhammad MehdiI)
Recently, there have been a lot of reports that a high-level diplomat is
having a meeting or meetings with high-level policy-making officials of
Pakistan. By the way, such meetings are a normal thing, but the special thing
is that it was not made public. Before reporting on this, a trip to the past
should be taken. In November 1966, the American National Security Council's
"American Policy on South Asia" stated that "Given the current
stability, the problem is no longer the same as before, that one crisis after
another individual politicians Be reckoned with. Now we can take a long-term
view of Pakistan's prospects. As we consider a stable political situation to be
beneficial to us at this time, we strongly urge the Government of Pakistan (the
Ayub Government) to assure them of our sympathetic interest and our
co-operation in its proposed economic and social reforms.". Although the
US knew very well that supporting this military dictatorship would have
dangerous effects on Pakistan.
In the US State Department report of December 5, 1958 in the Diplomatic
Branch of the National Archives, Washington, "Pakistan's Military
Government Faces Difficult Problems", it is stated that "in this
situation, the long period of military rule which Ayub Khan apparently intends,
could intensify provincial and class tensions. This will also disappoint
intellectuals, teachers, journalists, lawyers and other middle class people.
However, the prospect of a long-term erosion of political freedoms under military
rule would risk escalation of tension and unrest in East Pakistan to such an
extent that it might destroy the unity of the two parts of the country. That's
what happened. It is still necessary to look very carefully at what the US
wants from Pakistan and what the results of this desire can be. Because the US
did not get the desired outcome of the Afghan war and there is still a hostile
attitude and feeling towards Pakistan and unfortunately the Pakistani diplomats
posted in the US have not been able to change this situation. Laurel Miller,
former US special representative for Pakistan and Afghanistan and president of
the Asia Foundation, gave a good picture of the American situation in a recent
interview, saying, "You have services at the highest levels of the US
government right now.
"There are many who do, who have a deep hatred of Pakistan based on
twenty years of experience in Afghanistan," says Laurel Miller, who
co-chaired the United States Institute of Peace on Pakistan and Afghanistan.
The study group was formed and its report was released on May 14. The study
group was co-chaired by Lt. Gen. Michael Nakata along with Laurel Miller,
former US Ambassador to Pakistan Anne Peterson, former US Ambassador to
Afghanistan Michael McKinley. And other various defense and policy-making organizations
were involved. In this report, it is recommended to the US government to get
out of the influence of the events that happened during the Afghan war, because
there is still a lot of bitterness and trauma in this regard, and because of
this situation, the United States of Pakistan and Afghanistan. Not being able
to see things the way they should be seen and thatDue to this, extremist
organizations are regaining power in these two countries and in this situation
the Islamic State Khorasan (Daesh Khorasan) enjoys sanctuary in the government
of the Afghan Taliban, even though they are fiercely opposed to the Afghan
Taliban. In the same way, Pakistan's anti-banned TTP is also getting stronger.
The most important aspect of this report is that it asks the US
government to consider the possibility of military action, avoiding
conventional war, and suggests that the United States, together with Pakistan,
take steps again on these issues. It has been advised to secure long-term US
access to Pakistani airspace, but at the same time, Pakistan should make it
clear that any military action from Pakistan against India would have serious
negative consequences. will be These ideas flourishing in America can be
implemented anytime because America is not even in a position to completely
ignore Pakistan. (to be continued)
