The federal government has decided to clamp down on social media against
elements spreading propaganda and hatred against state institutions and
high-ranking personalities. The legal requirement for the trial has been met. The
federal cabinet has approved the courts for the trial under the PICA Act in
Islamabad. According to the Secretary of Information, PTI Ruf Hasan and others
will be under the Anti-Corruption Act.
According to the sources,
approval was given to establish these courts in the light of the decision of
the Islamabad High Court on June 2. According to the decision, Additional
District and Sessions Judges, Civil Judge East and West have been given the authority
to conduct the trial. There is a possibility of increasing the arrests under
the PECA Act, there will be a speedy trial. The Ministry of Law has received
approval from the Federal Cabinet on the summary of the law.
