Sitting in iOS 18 beta now, iPhone applications
have Light and Dark color options which means it is now possible to match your
icons with Dark mode. Read on to know how it all happens.
Apple introduced Light and Dark color options into its
built-in apps in iOS 18 and third-party applications will presumably offer
Light and Dark icon options to fit your likings when iOS 18 is
released to the public, but for now, your iPhone will
happily create the dark versions of your chosen applications’ icons as well.
The Dark icons are all changed from having a white or
colored background to a solid black background because they are now better
aligned with the Dark Mode option. Second, I’ve found out that one can activate the Dark icons even
if Dark Mode is not on, which should
allow for using a Light mode while activating the Dark icon mode if desired.
To complement the Dark Mode icons,
Apple has also included a ‘Switch
aside, darkens your wallpaper’ toggle.
Below is a procedure on how to change the icon colors to match Light or Dark
mode.
1. Hold the Home Screen or the app page until it
starts to jiggle and you can then make changes.
2. Go to the top left corner and tap on edit.
3. From the dropdown list select ‘Customize’.
4. It is also possible to choose among Dark, Light, or
Automatic mode from the same panel as customization. There are some changes
Automatic will make, for example, regarding the icons, the shade will change
and make them lighter or darker according to if Light or Dark mode has been
selected.
5. As with entering jiggle mode, you can exit by
tapping any area not in the customization panel.
It is to be noted that, this customization panel has other new settings that locate it as well as a setting to make your wallpaper darker – the sun icon, an option to make icons larger or smaller, and the Tint option will put a tint over all your icons, there is even the icon to choose the color by using the eyedropper icon ripped from your wallpaper.
