Further reduction in Inflation: IA Hashmi

According to the statistics of the Bureau of Statistics, the inflation rate has further decreased across the country this week, which is a good omen for the people, especially the poor. This is a welcome result of the steps the government is taking in this regard.

According to the bureau, the inflation rate has come down from 5.3 percent to 3.5 percent. It is said that it has decreased by 1.8 percent. The Bureau of Statistics determines the sensitive price indicators for consumers based on the increase or decrease in the prices of 51 essential items in 17 major cities and 50 markets of the country. This week, the prices of 23 essential items decreased, the prices of the same number of items remained stable and the prices of 10 items increased.

The prices of essential items whose prices decreased include tomatoes, chicken, flour, basmati rice and LPG, as well as mash, lentils and chickpeas. Garlic, banaspati ghee, potatoes, sugar, petrol, diesel, edible oil, bananas, firewood and cigarettes. The bureau's report did not mention anything about the prices of mutton, beef and vegetables. It is also a good thing that the prices of important items have decreased by the same amount.

The prices of items whose prices have increased include those that are an essential part of daily consumption. It is a fact that due to rising inflation, the number of people falling below the poverty line in the country has reached 40 percent of the total population. Now that signs of improvement in the economy are becoming visible, the government should try to take more steps to control inflation so that people can get rid of the burden of inflation. Economic stability can come not from continuous increase in taxes, but also from reduction in inflation, for which measures should be taken.
