Internet: Good news

The launch of the Africa to Cable is good news regarding the performance of the Internet in Pakistan, which will enable Pakistani Internet users to overcome the problems that have been going on for some time and will also put to rest the rumors that have spread or were spread in this regard. According to the announcement of the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority on January 4, 2026, in view of the malfunction that occurred in the submarine cable AAE-1 on January 2, 2025, the new cable is being temporarily included in the system and monitored. This has helped in controlling the situation and further steps are being taken. Now, to bring about a significant improvement in the speed of the Internet, the Africa to Cable project has been launched, which consists of the world's largest 45 thousand km long submarine network and connects 46 landing stations. The landing point of this new cable project in Pakistan will be in Hawke's Bay and Keamari Town, Karachi.

The recent slowdown in internet connectivity has created a situation that has created difficulties for Pakistani users and affected local freelancers, home-based workers, freelancers and international companies, while negatively impacting domestic and international trade in various ways. The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has made it clear that it is determined to control the situation and ensure the functionality of all services. The launch and operation of the Africa to Cable project will help in preventing the loss of infrastructure and foreign exchange and moving towards development. The internet is an important source of capital generation and all kinds of connections in this era. Ensuring the functionality and responsible use of its service is the need of the hour.
