The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO)
summit in Tianjin, China, has become the focus of attention of observers around
the world, especially since it is being held just a few months after the recent
four-day Indo-Pak war, and the prime ministers of both Pakistan and India are
participating in it. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is attending the SCO
summit after suffering a blow for his role in the Pahalgam drama, which he used
to portray Pakistan as a terrorist state and isolate it on the global stage,
and the subsequent aggression, while Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif is attending
the conference as the head of a country that, in a war imposed on the basis of
false accusations, inflicted the worst devastation on an enemy five times its
size with incredible speed and forced it to beg for a ceasefire. In this war,
Pakistan received full and enthusiastic moral and diplomatic support from
China, the host country of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization meeting, as
well as Turkey and Azerbaijan, participants in the conference, while the great
state of Russia, which has longer and deeper ties with India than Pakistan, did
not support the Indian position in the Indo-Pak war.
Then, after the war, India's diplomacy to
convince the international community of the correctness of its position against
Pakistan also failed miserably. For these reasons, Prime Minister Shahbaz
Sharif's appearance in this meeting is seen as the head of a victorious country
that defeated unjustified aggression, while the shadow of defeat seems to be
overshadowing Prime Minister Modi. Despite this, it would be a serious
misconception to believe that India's global importance has ended and that
nothing needs to be done to make Pakistan a permanent high place in the world.
Indian rulers have included their national economy among the strongest
economies in the world through continuous hard work and continuation of correct
policies. Indian experts in all walks of life have proven their capabilities
all over the world. India is far ahead of Pakistan in constitutional and
democratic terms, so we still have a lot to do to put our country on the path
of peace, stability, development and prosperity on a sustainable basis. This is
what Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said while addressing faculty members and
students at Tianjin University on Sunday, saying, “China has made progress not
through speeches but through action.” On this occasion, he added, “President Xi
Jinping’s vision of poverty eradication and shared prosperity is a beacon for
us.”
If China is the world’s major economic and
military power today, it has become possible not just through words but through
practical struggle. Eradicating corruption and poverty is a priority of our
government. He said that China has lifted more than 800 million people out of
poverty. This is a great achievement and a model for the world. President Xi
Jinping believes in shared prosperity, promoting development and eradicating
corruption. This is my policy in Pakistan. We need to learn from the Chinese model.
Undoubtedly, through continuous struggle, China - which was formed almost at
the same time as Pakistan - has made amazing progress in all sectors including
economy, education, defense, science and technology, industry and agriculture,
and for successful progress in this direction, the Pakistani nation also needs,
in the words of the painter of Pakistan, Allama Iqbal.Of course, we need heroes
of character, not of words.
