Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has given in-principle approval to the
project "Roshan Gharana Program" to provide solar panels to crores of
consumers using up to 500 units of electricity in Punjab. The Chief Minister
said that solar systems will be given to the poorest families in the first
phase according to the transparent procedure. People will not be left alone in
difficult situations. They are trying to save the people from the effects of
past disasters. After five years, people will not face the current problems.
Cabinet meeting has been called today for the final approval of the
"Roshan Gharana" program of providing solar panels to the people. The
government will only provide solar panels, the cost of the panels 90% will be
paid by the Punjab government while 10% will be paid by the consumer. The
panels will be provided in easy installments of five years. During the meeting,
comprehensive measures for national security were reviewed according to the
National Action Plan and a detailed briefing was given on the overall security
situation of the province. A briefing was also given on the preliminary
measures and the plan of relief activities in view of the possibility of flood
during monsoon was also reviewed. Security related issues and strategies of
foreigners including Chinese nationals working on CPEC and non-CPEC projects
were discussed.
A detailed review of
overall security measures including the Punjab Safe City Project was also
taken. Speaking during the meeting, the Chief Minister said that the
sensitivity of Muharram is well understood and every matter is being carefully
reviewed. Many elements try to disrupt the peace and harmony situation and
their nefarious intentions are to be thwarted together. He said that timely and
regular reports are very important, early notification and measures are
effective to avoid unpleasant incidents. The Chief Minister said that the RPOs
and DPOs across Punjab have been instructed to check the security of the Majlis
themselves. They have had a detailed meeting with the Ulama in the meeting of
the Provincial Union of Muslims Committee for the establishment of peace and
order. The officers have been instructed to go to the scholars themselves.
Ministers will sit in the central control room of Muharram, every procession
and assembly is being checked by live streaming. All the Majlis have been
geo-tagged to ensure security.
The Chief Minister said
that some elements create a situation like Islam and anti-Islam by using
loudspeakers, a solution has to be thought of. We are people who love and
follow Islam. Whoever insults any religion is not a Muslim, Christian, Sikh or
Hindu, but simply a criminal. Keeping a check on hate speech is very important.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif further said that as much as possible
efforts will be made not to stop the mobile service or internet service on
Ashura. There will be no transportation of Chinese residents without a
bullet-proof vehicle. The Punjab government is in favor of bullet-proof vans
and buses. Effective measures have been taken to prevent possible floods and
urban flooding in Punjab. Vasa emergency camps have also been established at
important places to ensure timely drainage in Lahore.In case of fog, there is
very little time for rescue. In case of possible flood, the evacuation of
people's lives and property as well as livestock will also be ensured. Corps
Commander Lahore Lieutenant General Syed Amir Raza said that the series of
mutual cooperation to protect the life and property of the people is
commendable.
We will continue to
collaborate with the Punjab government for effective security. We need to take
long-term sustainable security measures to avoid floods. Comprehensive
foolproof security arrangements will be made during Muharram Al Haram with
mutual cooperation. Therefore, the help of modern technology should be taken so
that the available personnel on security can perform their duties properly. In
the meeting, Corps Commander Lahore Lieutenant General Syed Amir Raza, Chief
Secretary Zahid Akhtar Zaman, Inspector General of Police Dr. Usman Anwar and
other top military, intelligence And government officials attended. The Chief
Minister of Punjab congratulated all the Pakistanis on the beginning of the
Islamic year and prayed that the new Hijri year would bring mercy and blessings
to Pakistan, the Pakistani nation and the Islamic world. The Battle of Karbala
is an example of unwavering courage, sacrifice and steadfastness in the face of
cruelty. The Chief Minister said that we pray that the new Hijri year brings us
peace, prosperity and happiness. May Allah grant freedom to the oppressed
Muslims of Palestine and Kashmir in the new Hijri year.
